An old story (comin' back to life)

"The Thing" (1991-1999) was an alternative Greek fanzine, which was founded by Dimitris "Jimbo" Katsoulakos in 1991. In 1992 John "Eight Miles High" Zois was added to the publishing team as chief editor alongside Jimbo remaining active till late 1998 and expanding the zine’s original focus to the then happening grunge and stoner scene so that it could also include psych, garage, classic rock, power pop, rock’n’roll, b-movies and other objects holding the team’s affection. From late 1996 to early 1998 Akis "Big Daddy Boy" Garras also participated in the publishing team as the zine had by then become “big business”.

“The Thing” ’s main subject was the independent/alternative rock 'n' roll scene in and out of Greece. It also organized rock concerts and other events and operated the Bad Elvis Records label. From 1996 it included a free CD compilation with every issue baptized by John "The Thing from Another World Vol. x" after the 1951 classic sci-fi movie.

The Thing ROCKED when rock 'n' roll still mattered to a lot of people.
